Webbo/Jon Please Help

Tracy can't sign into the new site. She says it won't accept her username and password. Can you help?
Thanks.

• my saved links no longer work to the talkback forum, neither do the google search links. I've had to come in via a google search that had 'discussions' in its URL.
• Must admit, there is a warning sign every time I click on writers online, telling me there are secure and nonsecure items. I have to always tell it I don't want to view the non secure items.
• Hi FT,
please could you ask her to check she's using the right sign in place - for now we have two logins:
• the more prominent one, at the top of the main page and elsewhere, is for the site as a whole, and will allow you to see your subscription and account information, etc, but is not the same as your Talkback account.
• http://talkback.writers-online.co.uk/people.php is for Talkback only
If my hunch is wrong and this doesn't help, please ask Tracy to email or call me directly, and we'll work through it together.
• Hi Webbo

I've just followed your advice and I'm in. I was using the top of the main page sign in.

Thanks Sandra & Webbo. :)
• Yay, welcome!

Dora - that's unexpected. I've queried it with people more techy than I
• Dora,
please could you provide some info?
What is your web browser? Windows or Mac?
What was the web address you were using to get that error, or how were you getting in? ie Google search (what did you search), bookmark (what was the url)?
Thanks
• I'm also getting a security warning, as follows:

"Do you want to view only the web page content that was delivered securely? This web page contains content that will not be delivered using a secure HTTPS connection which could compromise the security of the entire web page."
• Thanks Jenny, please could you provide the same info?
• I get the same using IE Windows Google search
•
I have to always tell it I don't want to view the non secure items.
I get this on most sites... but strangely not this one. Perverse or what ;)
• Thanks Tracy. What was the search term and what was the link you clicked?
• I put in writers news magazine in google search then follow the link to the main page.

The message is one I've seen many times before on other sites.

Webbo, I am using Windows

https://www.writers-online.co.uk/ is what comes up with the warning sign, and it appears with just a MAROON header at the top and a blank white screen, a "FOLLOW US" for twitter and nothing else until a few moments later the page appears, yet doesn't go any further until I choose yes or no.

What did I use to search it? Can't remember, although I first went into the old site and couldn't get it. I think I had the link on my computer when you'd announced it earlier. I didn't search google though.

It may be something to do with strict parental controls that we have my comp

Lexia, perverts indeed would only get that sign as many times as you do.
• Well I don't have the parent controls on and I also get the same message. Also when I went directly into TB, using Windows XP, I got the same error but when I used the main WN Home page, I was able to get straight in but got the same http message and nonsecure messages. I think like all new things, a bit of tweaking is required, if it were a baby, it would be called teething troubles

1. Web browser: Internet Explorer 8
2. Operating system: Windows XP
3. I click on Writers News in Favourites and it takes me to https://www.writers-online.co.uk (the home page where the security warning appears). After I've clicked to view only the secure items, I click on Talkback.
• There's definitely a problem with accessing Talkback - it took me ten minutes to actually manage to get it. Every time I put the correct internet address, it gave me virgin media!
• Verica - that virgin media page is what you get when Virgin provide your web hosting, but they can't locate the web address you type in (I only know cos I'm on Virgin too and it really annoys me!)
Have you updated your bookmarks? Use http://www.writers-online.co.uk or http://talkback.writers-online.co.uk and you shouldn't have a problem I don't think
• *re-reads comment and realises Webbo isn't a virgin*
• Webbo, why were you working on a Sunday?
• It's 24-7 in the fast-paced media whirlwind that is WM Jay!
• When I had a similar problem after the change-over I googled the new website and put that in my favourites and have not had a problem since.
But I do have a problem if I'm elsewhere and trying to get on to Talkback.
• Strange. The board shows the last post (Carol's) as mine still.
• Well, it did. It doesn't now, of course.
