Has any TBer participated in this before? http://www.ruberybookaward.com/
Most will have seen it featured in Writing Magazine Competition Special.

I usually see the more organic 'life-traumas' genre style scoop pools of general competitions, whereas crime/mystery is rewarded by CWA (Crime Writers' Association) and like organisations.

I expect the learned Mrs Baggy Books might offer pertinent comment.

    I haven't participated and don't plan to. It seems a bit weird to nominate ourselves for an award, but I suppose it's the self publishing equivalent of a publisher putting one of their authors forward.

    My publisher entered my book last year and it was shortlisted, plus they posted their readers' comments on Amazon so it was useful for me. Check out previous winners of your category to get a feel for what they like.

    The cost of entering would put me off, I think, unless I was sure I had something quite outstanding!
