Joining Linkedin

any chance I can get a looksee at fairly new writers profiles on linkedin with a view to getting myself on linkedin and is there any real use in my doing this?

  • I'm on it, and it's been no use at all. Keeps offering me jobs so if that's what you want, go for it!
  • I'm on it too. Like Lizzie, I don't think it's much use to fiction writers. Having said that, I don't really know what to do there, and just add links to blog posts and that sort of thing. I might get more out if I put more in.

If you're offering a service then it could be useful. Generally it seems to help those looking for people to employ, work for or work with.

Your question prompted me to update my profile. This is is – https://www.linkedin.com/in/patsy-collins-bb7bb834/
  • Linkdin is more of a work networking thing than a promotional tool. I tried to use it to publicise what I was doing but it didn't really work, and some people at my firm thought I'd resigned! I did get someone asking me to edit their porn blog. I politely declined (never burn your bridges!)
