any chance I can get a looksee at fairly new writers profiles on linkedin with a view to getting myself on linkedin and is there any real use in my doing this?

  • I'm on it, and it's been no use at all. Keeps offering me jobs so if that's what you want, go for it!
  • I'm on it too. Like Lizzie, I don't think it's much use to fiction writers. Having said that, I don't really know what to do there, and just add links to blog posts and that sort of thing. I might get more out if I put more in.

    If you're offering a service then it could be useful. Generally it seems to help those looking for people to employ, work for or work with.

  • Linkdin is more of a work networking thing than a promotional tool. I tried to use it to publicise what I was doing but it didn't really work, and some people at my firm thought I'd resigned! I did get someone asking me to edit their porn blog. I politely declined (never burn your bridges!)
