Know what you mean, Lizy! But I must admit this photo prompt was perfect to rewrite another old one of mine, so I posted very promptly this week. Apparently I've written a modern fairy story. Who knew? Not me.
After a break during the festive season, I'm back to the Friday Fictioneers 100 word photo challenge. When I saw the photo of a spider's web I immediately decided that I was *not* going to write a story about spiders!
TN, half those comments are my replies - and, yes, I read and comment on nearly all the Friday Fictioneers entries. A good number of them DON'T reciprocate! It's quite time consuming, but I'm hoping it will be worth it. (And I do enjoy reading most of the stories, so it's not as onerous as it sounds.)
I read and comment on roughly half, usually every other one so be fair, and there are some I always read. After three years or more in FF I know most of those who never reciprocate and tend to ignore them, as does Rochelle, I believe. There's only so much time I can spare.
Do you think, Lizy, that your efforts there have contributed to book sales? Mine are perpetually low. Evidently, I'm not doing what I should be - or my books are complete rubbish.
Your books aren't rubbish - I've read some of them. And your poetry is stunning - why not publish a book of those?
No, I don't. think my efforts have etc. Most of my sales have been to family and friends - possibly 4 or 5 to strangers. As far as I know, not even droning on about it on TB has resulted in any sales - unless those who've read it think it's awful and don't like to say!
Whether that is down to my total lack of expertise in the publicity department or the quality of my writing is for others to decide. I have had 24 sales and three reviews, all 5 star, for all the good that's done me. But I soldier on with book 2 in the series, cos what else can I do?
What I need to do is learn how to make my own covers so I don't feel bad about spending out money that I can't justify with massive sales.

I'm slowly learning who reciprocates on FF and who doesn't, but it's early days. I just had a quick tot up and calculated that this week I've commented on nearly 70 stories and only 20 FF bloggers have reciprocated so far! I'm not planning to give up on FF because a) it gets me writing and b) I do get far more comments on my blog than I used to. As I gradually identify the serial 'offenders' I'll cross them off my list and stop reading their blogs! I know that sounds a bit mean and petty, but I see FF as a way of mutually supporting other writers and I don't see why I should waste precious time on people who don't play fair.
No, I don't follow FF on facebook, Lizy, because I already check the photo prompt on Rochelle's blog. I did comment on her recent post about this subject.

I didn't write about spiders either, Claudia! Nice one.
