Change of direction

edited June 2018 in Writing
I have spent weeks planning my chapter outline and started writing the story last week. However, today I completely disregarded everything I had originally planned and started writing from elsewhere along with changing some of the original story. It feels better and something that I could continue, and it seems like something else that I want to write.

Has this happened to others before?

  • That's why I don't plan too meticulously!
  • Those thought processes aren't wasted. They have evidently cleared a mental path and allowed you to tell a better tale!
  • I think I felt trapped with where I was originally going to start. Those incidents are going to feed into everything the main character is going to do. It also brings the meet cute earlier in the narrative instead of chapters away
  • Meet cute?
  • The moment the romantic pair meet for the first time.
