My first book was delivered today! (A childcare textbook for students). I can't quite believe it's here, although it feels as though I've been waiting forever!

Thank you to everyone here for their friendship and encouragement - it really helped me throughout the writing process. Some of you gave me advice about how to handle the situation when I hated the first cover proposed by the publishers. It was subsequently changed, and I was so glad today - a cover I didn't like would have taken the shine off. Thanks again, Jacey x

Thank you everyone. I finished my second book two weeks ago, so I haven't been resting on my laurels - honest! I've got a commission for a children's activity book for the same publisher, but I don't have to start it for a few weeks. I've been SO looking forward to the interim time - I've had this earmarked for writing some fiction (my real passion) for months. I can't tell you how excited I am that the time has finally come! I feel in need of some fun, so I'm going to write some comedy. (Ha, ha, ha!) I'm going to see Ricky Gervais tonight, so that should put me in the right frame of mind.

Has anyone any experience of writing for first and best. It is a website that specialises in writing educational books. It does not seem to pay well but I wondered if it was a good starting point.
