    it is. Very tricky, I would have said. Do you need to be all but canonised (Nelson Mandela) before you stop being a criminal and start being an accepted person who can write their memoirs ... I would not like to take a stand one way or the other on this one.

  • Yes he would, because that is how historians and the media have portrayed him.
    I'm like you I can't decide one way or another.
    Politicians and social do gooders go on about sorting crime out, trying to prevent it etc. So perhaps we do need such books. It might highlight the areas that have a big effect.
    And as many prisoners who have been in jail long term find it very difficult to get a job, the money they might receive from their memoirs will help provide for them.
