No unsolicited submissions

edited October 2010 in - Writing Problems
If a magazine says "No unsolicited submissions" on its masthead does that mean all their content is commissioned or written in house, or will they consider articles after first querying?

Comments

  • It usually means they won't except anything just sent to them. If you query them first you may be asked to produce the item.
Often it is a mixture of in house or commissioned, and you can't be commissioned if you don't query...:)
