World Wide Words - a web site to enjoy !

edited November 2010 in - Reading
I was using Google to research the words 'grockle' and 'emmet' - being a West Country girl myself I was unsure how widely these words were known outside 't't West Country. And I came across a web site which seems to be both fun and useful - here is the definition for 'Kippers and Curtains' - http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-kip2.htm

Hope you enjoy a browse around !

  • Thanks, Pragmatist. That's a fascinating website!

I've never heard the phrase "kippers and curtains" before. It almost sounds like something the writers of Frasier came up with, to show off their (alleged) knowledge of "British" (ie English) expressions!
