  • (Yesterday) Two jays on our garden fence.
  • This morning I was getting my breakfast and looking out the kitchen window when a blackbird landed on the right hand side of the garden table, ran round the edge (anti-clockwise) and dived into the red currant bush for a quick gorge on the berries.
The birds have been doing this for weeks, and they're now having to get to the lower branches, so they can't just fly at the bush and grab a branch anymore. (All the upper branches just have stripped stalks.)
You then see branches moving like the invisible man is in there moving about, but it's just the fact you can't see the birds :)
  • A huge Amazon parcel ... which contained a spider catcher!
  • Three jays in our garden, one sitting on a stone teddy bear and one trying desperately to get at the fat balls hanging from the bird table.
  • It did it! The jay managed to cling on to the fat ball feeder!
  • The sparrow had a piece of bread, the blackbird was after it, the magpie got it.
  • Bunny rabbit back in my garden again

Very cute but, I'm so worried the fox will find it out :(
  • A young crow being fed by its parent.

A wood pigeon managed to get to the feeder by hanging upside down from the bird table!
  • I saw a Buzzard in our local woods this morning. Wonderful!
  • A couple of days ago when walking the dog I saw a deer drinking from the stream that runs through our village. It then climbed up the bank and ran across the neighbouring field. It was utterly beautiful.
  • Aren't they Mutley? And there is something so wonderfully 'wild' feeling about them, too.
  • Jay, do you think they are attracted by a bond of kinship?
  • Just finished cleaning up after the cat caught a mouse. It was dead on the landing this morning, so as I didn't know if it was alive or dead on arrival, I tea-treed the whole upstairs landing and stairs and path to the back door, and vacuumed.

While I was spraying the top of the stairs, out of the corner of my eye I spotted Lola nose open the babygate, into the kitchen. She reappeared seconds later with her dog pornography I confiscated yesterday, and hid in Pete's music/cutting room (through the kitchen and down the passage to the front door). It was up HIGH. Little tyke, it was clearly an undercover mission - waited till I was busy, and she trotted along at pace her head bent back at an impossible angle, carrying it as quickly as she could into the sitting room.
  • We were travelling along the M4 today when a large truck in front drove onto the hard shoulder, then braked and came back onto the motorway. I was convinced the driver had fallen asleep. When we overtook the truck, the driver was pouring a drink into a beaker whilst trying to drive.
Another one was a gorgeous convertible with the hood down with a huge box on the back seat which was higher than the roof of the car would have been. It looked like a flat screen tv to me. Further along the road it started pouring down.
  • Ooer! On our way to Scotland not long ago I saw loads of people texting on the motorway - madness. The worst was a young woman READING A BOOK on her steering wheel, traveling at 70 mph.
