Coffee and cake, anyone?

edited May 2014 in Writing
It seems that casey, nefertari and I are in fairly close proximity to one another.

Is there anyone else who is close enough - and would like to come - for coffee in Uxbridge (location and time to be decided) on Thursday 5th June?

  • Be here like a shot if my proximity was closer. *Glares at it*
  • *sobs*

    Wish I could be there.
  • I'm not sure where Uxbridge is - which probably proves I'm not close.
  • And I'd be the only guy if I came but anyway I live some distance from Uxbridge.
  • Ah. London. I'm not expecting to be in that direction anytime soon.
  • I should be there tomorrow.
  • Uxbridge is at the end of one of the Tube lines.
  • Don't ask me for directions. I'll have enough trouble finding it myself.

And Stan, what, may I ask, is wrong with being the only man? Are we that scary?

Yes, I wish everyone was closer. Funny how we've made friends online, when all we've ever done is write words on a forum...

*gazes at the where the stars would be*
  • Mrs Bear, considering you're in France, you know more about the Tube than I do!
  • I had a lovely time when I met up with some TBers in Honiton - and Ceka (whom I met five years ago), is someone I meet up with several times a year.

Oh...and Liz! It was lovely meeting Liz last year!
  • I'm actually a TB tart - I've been around.
  • 200 miles away...I'll pass :(
  • Lightweight.
  • If you're paying and I can bring my dog, I'm in! :D

  • "And Stan, what, may I ask, is wrong with being the only man? Are we that scary? " asks TN. Oh, yes!

  • I enjoyed Honiton last year.

@Stan. I'm the only guy in my writers' circle, one of two in the U3A group, and was the only male out of twelve attendees at a recent 'workshop'.

TN, you should have set it up when I was in London.

  • You like the ladies!

Did you let on that you were so close? I think not.

  • I've always thought it to be the other way around, Stanley.

Did you let on that you were so close? I think not.

I've always thought the Home Counties to be a bit like the Black Country: mysterious and virtually impenetrable.

  • Hey, if it's all ladies I might make the extra effort to come along!

*rummages through cabinet for long lost aftershave*
  • Mmm. Brut 45.
  • Is BR a brut aged 45?
  • Far be it from me to start rumours, Stan...
  • Of course not..
  • I am indeed a brute, and I am 45...in fifteen years.
  • Actually...fifteen years, and almost three months :P

    *whippersnapper alert*
  • Well, you are younger than I thought.
  • *feels old*
  • I was 45 in 1981.

    *sobs*
  • Wait till you reach my age! Who has pinched me Zimmerman frame?
  • br's a mere child. He needs taking into hand.
  • Best offer I've had all day.
  • I nearly added the words: 'This is not a euphemism'. Knew I'd live to regret my turn of phrase.
  • Enjoy the mini get-together, TN. :)
  • I've just studied my trusty London Tube map and it's definitely possible, if you don't mind adding a slightly nervous dragon to the mix (I promise not to set light to any tablecloths!)?
  • I'm 2000 miles away.
    Bugger.
  • Ooh, great, Smaug. A table for three so far!

Now, Lizy, enough of your excuses. 2000 miles indeed. You've got walking boots, haven't you?
  • If you could get up to Oxford i might think about it.
  • Stan, we have had two lone men at our 20 strong all-female book group! The first was Phil Hammond who could hold his own with anyone, he left to join the men's group when it was set up and now we have Charles who is a delightfully-posh-horse-riding-vet. Who loves reading all the books we do. Sex doesn't matter, it's character that counts.
  • I'm in Greenford. Used to live in Uxbridge [before they vandalised it].
Loved to meet you in Uxbridge.
Can some one remind me nearer the time.
  • Great, Bill!

sm said: If you could get up to Oxford i might think about it.

If I could find my way to Oxford, I would! Let me work on that for another time.
  • See, Stan, Bill's not frightened of the ladies.
  • I'm not far but work on a thu :(
  • Awwww...
  • *sighs*

I suppose those of us that can't make it could have a 'virtual coffee and cake'?

  • It appears so.

    Shame the tardis isn't real...

Does anyone know what's happened to JohnWhoNumber?
  • If I'm back from Ireland - which a very distinct possibility as I've got a number of chores to deal with in London/Surrey - I'm in.
