London Writing Group seeking new members

edited September 2014 in Writing
London (Central/South Bank) Writing Group seeking new members.

‘Words Under the Stairs’ is a writing group that has been going since 2006. We meet on Wednesday nights 2-3 times a month at the Royal Festival Hall, and currently have 5 regular members. Our focus is predominantly novel writing, with some of our members also writing short stories. We have some writers with agents who are pursuing traditional publishing, and others who are interested in self-publishing.

The format of the group is that 2 members per week circulate in advance work that they wish to have critiqued, and the work is discussed in the round at the group meeting. Occasionally we will have discussion nights about topics of interest to authors, and also will critique longer pieces or whole novels when our members require. Our members are currently writing a number of different genres, including crime, thrillers, YA fantasy, women’s fiction, chic-lit, Latin American, literary fiction, sci-fi.

The group dynamic is friendly and supportive, but we are also not afraid to give and receive constructive criticism. We are seeking one or two dedicated new members with at least some experience in writing fiction, who will enjoy and benefit from the camaraderie of a writing group. Please reply through this thread or by PM if you are interested in coming along for a glass of wine and a chat to see if our group might be for you. Serious enquiries only please.

We look forward to meeting you.

  • Have you listed your group on the Writers Online part of the website? It's under Resources.
  • I'll try and pop along. There are tons of groups in London though - meetup.com lists some of them.
