Calling all poets and anyone who would like to write a poem for National Poetry Day, which this year is on October 6th. The theme is messages.

In my role as National Poetry Day Ambassador, I am asking people to send message poems to the planet, an animal, a rainforest, a flower, a declining habitat, the ocean - or a message from the planet or animal to a human, or to the world, or to anything, anyone else.

The poem can be in any form, it can be an apology, an explanation, a song, a lament, a celebration, a love poem - the only definite criterium is it has to be a message!

Please send your poem to [email protected]

It will go on the website below and it will be tweeted. Best poem gets a prize:

    It's a lovely, stable theme and easy to use if anyone is looking to make a Wordpress blog. I've made the front page static but it can be the blog.

    If anything is unclear please tell me. I've been working on it this morning and it's all different again, now...!

    On the page you get to there are three tabs with poems on - my poems, animal poems and poem of the day...

    I see those tabs for a second, then the screen changes and they disappear. Using my phone. I will try again when I am on the Big Computer.

    Ok, it works fine on my iphone, thank goodness... I deliberately chose a phone/tablet -friendly theme so that put the wind up me!

    It's up on Liz's blog today and it really is a beautiful poem. It brought tears to my eyes.
    Liz - why aren't you trumpeting this on the Blog Updates thread? It deserves to be read far and wide.
