This week it's:
On Chesil Beach: Ian McEwan's new novel.
Abridged version, fifteen minutes each night between 10.45 and 11.00 pm this week.
There was also an excerpt in the Guardian last week, which I found bitty. He started with one bit which was proceeding along, then the character goes off into past thoughts for a time before going back to the previous bit.
So it will be interesting to listen to.
It reminded me of John Fowles; probably the setting and the Victorian attitudes to sex. McEwan seems to create such claustrophobic world's these days; Saturday left me gasping for breath and this was suffocating as well.
Although I enjoyed listening to it, I think I will be wanting to bang the two characters heads together by Wednesday.
Claustrophobic, yes I can see what you mean Howard.
