Short story competitions, for woman's magazines only?
The competition winners in WN and WM seem to favour the sort of short story featured in womans' magazines.
Any writer who 'walks on the dark side' hasn't got a look in. Let's face it, with titles featuring boy scouts and 'boy meets girl', writers who walk the darker walk haven't got a chance of winning. Where's the regular horror story competition?
In WM the Competitions insert look at page 8, WM Dec 2007 short story is: Murder, or WN August 07 last line: He just disappeared into the shadows.
That gives you scope surely.
