BBC Radio success!

  • I'm one of the winners in the World Cup monologue competition held by BBC Writersroom and Radio Five Live!

They accepted entries right throught the World Cup, but unfortunately they stopped producing them after England went out.  Instead they chose three entries from the final stage of the competition to be published on the Writersroom and Five Live websites.  I came this close to having it performed by Johnny Vegas - that England squad has a lot to answer for!  But never mind, I'm still pleased!

The BBC say they still might use it at a later date - they're paying me for it and I'm
getting a contract, so fingers crossed!

Anyway, I can't tell you to listen out for it, but you can read it if you're interested at
[url]www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom/[url/] Click on Johnny Vegas, then scroll down and click on "For Better, For Worse."  (It shows my real first name, Miranda).
  • I've realised the link above isn't "clicky" - just to clarify, the address is www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom/
  • Congratulation Jacey, you must be thrilled. It's a great acheivement.
  • Good for you, Jacey!
  • Excellent. Well done, Jacey.
  • Thank you! I might be a bit over-excited...!
  • Congratulations!
  • That's fantastic! Well done!
  • Jacey - Now I've read your monologue I can see why it was a winner! I hope it does get broadcast - it's just begging to be read out loud!
  • Congratulations Jaycee well done.
  • Thank you Luckypen, Jay, Katz, Dorothy and Rosemary.  I'm glad you liked it Jenny.  It's only three minutes long, but I'm planning to write something longer in the same vein to try and build on this little success.
  • Brilliant stuff, Jacey.  Enjoyed reading it.  You must be 'over the moon' to coin another footie phrase.
  • Well done Jacey.  You are right to be over excited! I could definitely imagine Johny Vegas reading your piece.
  • Thats great news :O)

    Gary and Carol :O)
  • Thank you Tessa, Anna, Lily, G&C, it's so great to have positive people to share good news with.  Thanks for taking the time to read it.  Football isn't really my thing either, so I can also identify with being on the "wrong football page"!
  • Congratulations Jacey!
  • Well done
  • Thank you Kangaroo and Sal!
  • That's great. Well done. I intended to enter but just couldn't think of anything. You did and were a winner. Well done again!
  • I've only just discovered that you can register your email address on the BBC Writers Room website to receive their newsletters.
  • Many congratulations Jacey, what a fantastic achievement.
  • Just read your piece on BBC website.
really enjoyed it - well done.
    Bazz
  • Thank you Sallyannie and Kathy.  Bazz, I'm glad you liked it, especially since you're so into your football - I hope this means I got the match details right!
  • Hi Jacey

Sorry, a bit behind the times here. Just read about your success so decided to read the monologue.
Absolutely brilliant! And the scary thing is I felt I could relate to that person because I have been in those situations with those kind of feelings.
Do you think I should see a syndrome specialist??!!
    Wishing you continued success
  • Hi Courierjohn, I'm really glad you liked it.

I hope your projects are progressing well. I reckon those syndrome specialists could manage a diagnosis for most of us - don't give them chance to find one, that's what I say!!
