Call for Submissions

edited September 2012 in - Writing Tales
I'm setting up a new online magazine for short stories call Running out of Ink. We're now accepting submissions for the website and I would love if some of my friends from TB entered. The site won't be running until October but I've posted the submission guidelines below. You can also hear more about the site from my blog piece at Shortbread Stories: http://www.shortbreadstories.co.uk/member/view/shortbread/blog/running_out_of_ink/#axzz26YQsRJk9

We are currently accepting submissions for fiction of 2500 words or less. We believe variety is important, so all genres are welcome as long as they are well written. However, any edgy content should be necessary to the story.

Please submit your stories as a word .doc format or in the body of the email. Work must be previously unpublished but we do accept simultaneous submissions as long as you advise us of this in your original email and let us know if your work is accepted elsewhere. Please only submit one piece per issue.

While we regret we are unable to pay our writers, this ezine provides an excellent method for new writers to gain a voice as well as adding to the resume for existing writers.

• Might just give this a go, thanks.
• Thanks Baggy, I'm really excited about this!
• Good luck with this, forget-me-not.
• When I googled the site name, it read (in my little brain) as running out to think!
• Would you like to mention this on my blog? http://patsy-collins.blogspot.co.uk/

If so, have a look in the 'contact me' section about 'people who publish' for what to do. (Please remind me you're forget-me-not from TB if you respond)
• Good luck with it all.
• Very well done to you for getting on and making this happen, FMN.

I love what you've said about being able to look back in years to come and be proud of your achievement, and what you've said about makng your own tools. :)

Good luck. :)
• I've had my first submission and my first email to the info@ address from a very nice man wanting to be kept informed as he's interested in what kind of stories it will show. My first potential read and my first potential writer in one night! Oh joys, it's starting :D
• Good luck f-m-n!

This will be my first venture into submitting to an online mag!
Nice introductory blog too.
Good luck with it, forgetmenot.
:P
edited to add - could you clarify your email address?
[email protected] doesn't work!
• [email protected] should work, I've received emails and I've just sent a test to it which came through. Can you please try again?
• Yup - it worked this time - must have been a hiccup in the wires!
• Ooh, I might try my luck with this. Thanks. :)
• Our first issue is now up! Check it out at http://www.runningoutofink.com. You may catch a TBers story or two!
• There are a few minor issues in some browsers which will be sorted soon. Hope you's enjoy!
• Congratulations! I had a look at the site, looks great! Good luck with it!
• Congratulations FMN.
•
a few minor issues in some browsers
Looks great forget-me-not - have read one already tho I am supposed to be working :) You might find this web site helpful in resolving the browser issues http://browsershots.org/ or W3C validation http://validator.w3.org/. In Firefox 6.0.2 under Linux the menus wrap and the vertical dividers are not in the right place. Looks great despite that tho ! Well done !
• Congratulations, FMN!
• Well done FMN !
• Already looked and read snail's story.
Best of luck forget-me-not.
• Congratulations fmn, looks brilliant. I'm looking forward to reading the stories later, and wish you all the best with the site.
• Have got you on FB now, and saw your post about another site to use if we're submitting.
Can you explain for dimbos like me, please, what difference it makes?
:)
• Argh I wrote a massive long post to this yesterday and it's not there. Duotrope isn't too important so if you're don't already use it then don't worry. It allows writers to see how many people submit and how many are pending result, average response times, acceptance rates, personalised declines compared to blanket declines. If your stats are good then you get more submissions. As a writer though you should check it out, it's infinitely useful in finding the right market to submit a piece to. I've used it for years since LeeH recommended it to me.
• The site looks great, nice work, really hope it takes off!!
• Well done. Great site. Lots of really good stories. Good luck with it.
• A lovely little site! - best of luck with this, forget-me-not. :)
• Great site - it looks so professional in black and white.
