October: No Tricks, All Treat...

edited October 2013 in - Writing Tales
For the entire month of October, I'm making the electronic version of my collection of short stories, Somewhere to Start From, available free of charge.

If you're not one of the Talkbackers who've already got a copy, now's your chance! The ebook features 22 short stories, covering a wide range of themes and styles, many of which have been published, won prizes, or been shortlisted for various competitions, including Writers' Forum, The Guardian, and the James White Award (see the acknowledgements page for full details). Have a look at http://www.lies-ink.blogspot.co.uk/p/somewhere-to-start-from.html if you'd like more information.

To get a copy, head over to Smashwords ( http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/262944 ) and download whichever format works for your ereader, or a PDF if you want to read it on your computer. The promo coupon code to use is BB82C.

Thanks for your time, and if you do download the book, I hope you enjoy it!

N.B. I wasn't sure how to get the .mobi file onto a Kindle, so I've just tested it using the Kindle app on my Samsung tablet. It's a piece of cake - you just download the file, then email it to your Kindle's email address (I found mine under the 'Settings' menu of the app). There's a short delay, but then it pops up alongside all your other books.

Please let me know if you have any problems.

Danfango. Thank you for sharing this!
  • Just a reminder that this collection is still available for free, all this month.

I blogged about it here: http://lies-ink.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/october-no-tricks-all-treat.html

Many thanks to everybody who's already downloaded it.
  • I bought my copy some time ago and can thoroughly recommend it.

Brilliant read - cleverly executed tales and something to suit all.
  • I'm guessing that most people who are interested in this collection have already downloaded it but, just in case anybody is planning to wait until the very last minute, this is a gentle reminder that after tomorrow the ebook will be back up to its usual (although not exactly wallet-crushing) price.

If anyone has any questions about it, please let me know.
  • Thanks, Dan, I hadn't and just have...when I'll get time to read it, who knows, but thank you!
  • Thank you, Liz. I hope you enjoy the stories once you get around to them.

Many thanks to everybody who downloaded the book. I don't think I broke any records, but it was good to get a decent response to this promotion.
