Where do i start with research.

edited April 2009 in - Writing Problems
I'm changing tack alittle in the hope of re-kindling my writing (which has come to a complete stop). I've decided to act on alittle whim i have and i need to do some historical research, the only trouble is i'm not sure which period i am looking at... i can't really explain why... but i could do with somewhere to look at female costumes - predominately widow's clothes to 'locate' the period in question. Can any of you good tb'ers help?

The Victorians had a big thing about mourning and I believe all sorts of related etiquette existed even down to black jewellery and black edged visiting cards etc. Out of their great interest in death they also developed a keen interest in spiritulism and seances etc.
