where to pitch your writing

edited June 2009 in - Writing Problems
Hi all you lot out there.
This may have come up in another topic, but apart from book agents /publishers , any hints on where to send out childrens stories, what are the best comics to look at (childrens, no Pent House Magazines)I know this is a bit vague as not put down any age groups or genre, any good suggestions very welcome

  • Most children's comics do not run children's stories in them Jenny. There are a lot of tie-ins to programmes on tv and such so that doesn't help.
  • Maybe you could self-publish a collection and visit local libraries to do talks (and sell copies!) - or you could look for some online journals that'd be interested in publishing for no payment, but would gain you exposure.
  • visit the local newsagents, look at all the children's magazines, find out who publishes them, visit their websites, check them on line, see what they want. Best way.
  • Thanks for help, will try a few out
  • Look up Aquila magazine. And The Young Writer. In USA, google 'Cricket' magazine
