If you go to Mslexia website and click on competitions - there is a list of poetry, short story, flash fiction, play writing competitions with not too distant deadlines.

Do you have to have subscribed to the magazine to enter, or can anyone enter?

No you don't have to subscribe - it lists competitions that are not Mslexia ones
