Yes I have and think I may do something along those lines linked to my facebook page. I have to get on with doing some more promoting but keep having spells when my illness severly limits my energy levels and haven't been able to face it.
I think I do need to send a few more copies out to various organisations but there again I haven't got around to it yet. It is on the "to do list" though.
Interestingly your book came up on a list 'what people bought' when I was doing a search on Amazon. Definitely will be looking at this :) Well done
Thanks Red-Lucy, I must admit I am not getting many sales so your comment cheered me up!
I know. It isn't them; it's me. The upgrade to "Draft" the first time came through really quickly, and I corrected the bits as necessary, and it's just that I've run out of patience. SAVE the choccie? Are you mad?
*Trembles with adrenalin rush*
* Rummages for smelling salts*
omg
Publishing...
Oh Wow!
The pop up window for "What's this?" explains that "Publishing" status can take up to twelve hours, so I have summoned some more patience and logged out. At least it's through the "In Review" stage.
I've had the email to say it's gone live, but the link takes me to a 404 page, and if I search in the Kindle Store, I can't find it. Does it take a little while for their DB to update? OLG?
I've heard mention of such a page. In fact, I believe I have seen such a page myself, but you know me and computers, pbw. I don't know what it means. I don't know if it's a temporary glitch that will disappear when you go and look again.
Shout louder for OLG.
I'll help (the dots signify extra hard pressure on the keyboard keys):
It was. The Kindle techies fixed it, and fast. They've been great.
It was YOU! Thanks a mill for that. I shall be doing my author profile, but not today. I've been going at this until midnight last night and then since 7 this morning. Time for Million Matchmaker and a glass of white wine now... and then over to the Scoff Thread.
Dear all
Not a new book, but I am trying to revive interest and sales in my novel Losing Lucy, so it's FREE to download for 3 days from now until Sunday night. If you haven't downloaded or read it before, please do. It has some great 5 star reviws, some of them from happy talkbackers!
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B006WP6VUU/ref=rdr_kindle_ext_tmb
I forgot to post this one when it came out - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Up-The-Garden-Path-ebook/dp/B00DHNAGH4/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1376042726&sr=1-4
It's a short story collection. All the stories have a horticultural/plant connection.
I have downloaded yours, Viv & it is on my list but I have been overloaded the last few months. I will review it. Also PM, I should love to read your "The Garden Path" because I love your short stories.
If anyone feels like reading and reviewing mine. I badly need a boost on Amazon. Promotion is so unbelievably hard-going. Mine's not a long read. It's about 65,000 words & it is YA.
I remember reading about 'Losing Lucy' in Writer's Forum? Is that correct?
So I've downloaded it to Kindle (I've only had it for a week I'm a newbie) and I will definitely read it sometime and review. I'm not usually a fan of these type of books but I have been looking for some books from new writers and I came on here to find something new. Guess I've found it. :)
I remember reading about 'Losing Lucy' in Writer's Forum? Is that correct?
Yes, Jen. I wrote a monthly Writers Forum column that followed the progress and editing of Losing Lucy, and its path around various critique services, agents and publishers, over a year. I got lots of positive and helpful reader feedback and encouragement at that time. No mainstream publisher would take it in the end - mainly as it's shorter than average at 66000 words and also that they found it hard to categorise it. Is it a psychological thriller, a women's novel, a crime?? It didn't fit the boxes the booksellers need it to fit.
It has had excellent reviews and sold a few copies though, so I am not altogether sorry I had to go the self-publish route. But marketing and PR is where you do need the help of the big companies - it's the hardest part (much harder than actually writing the book!)

I've started reading 'Losing Lucy' and I can't stop! I ended up staying up late last night reading it. Passing the link on to a book website. I'm really enjoying it Viv.
Running short of holiday reading? The omnibus edition of my short story collections is now available in print or as an eBook! Support and reviews from my fellow Talkbackers would be very welcome!

I've mentioned this book before - it's really very useful to anyone in search of marketing ideas for their book.
I don't think you can, Sallyj, when I went back and looked at it. I think I would have to publish a separate edition as an American English edition, and it would appear on all sites. Probably not worth the effort and would just confuse everyone.
I have recently researched the facility whereby Amazon alerts your existing customers if you have made a major/minor revisions to your books.
It works like this:
You have to sign into your KDP account and scroll to the bottom and select Contact Us. Then you send them a request explaining why you want the alert sent out. It seems you have to make the case to have the channel activated so your readers can download your latest edition.
I have made the request, sent the required detail and I will get a response within 4 weeks.
I have my own purchased copy of Far Out on my Kindle so I should get the alert too.
On another matter, I uploaded the new product description for Far Out to Amazon about an hour ago, and they've already pubbed it! I sent them a virtual hug.
The Amazon tecchies have posted my revised edition of Far Out. Those of you who have it on your Kindle will see it marked as a "New" download. On other eReaders I couldn't say.
So, the system works, but the bottom line is, you have to make the case to them, for the update.
Until the 10th of September. my crime thriller novella, Hell To Pay is available for the special offer price of 99 pence on Kindle http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hell-Pay-Hard-Girls-ebook/dp/B00DJFB9G2/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1378329371&sr=1-1&keywords=hell+to+pay+jenny+thomson
I'm hoping it will give sales a wee boost as so far apart from the price drop they've done little to promote it:(

Temporary renaming of thread to...
TBer's Books ALMOST on Kindle...
*Sigh*
Save the choccie as your reward.
How foolish of me. I take it all back.
Shove it all in and munch to your heart's delight.
What WAS I thinking of...?

Here it is! I've been MONTHS preparing for this moment. You can imagine how pleased and proud I am. Doesn't the page render beautifully?

I've read (and reviewed) Debbie Young's book and agree with Baggy. Debbie is very knowledgeable and writes in an easy to read way.
Right now, I have the British English edition up there, but I wondered if it puts American readers off?
Any opinions?

My sis in Oz wants one and I want one.
I've bought two copies and I've also bought Tree Talk in pb too. If I get to meet ana one day she can autograph them for me.
It doesn't say who the publisher is, BB? I suppose this is a pre-order announcement. Hopefully ana will tell us more here. How exciting.
