Lord Loss by Darren Shan

Comments

  • Finished this last night and I have to say I prefered it to the Vampire Blood Trilogy. Written for, a believe, a slightly older audience, its fast paced, written almost entirely in short 'wham bam' sentences, oddly punctuated by an arrow (?!)Terrifying with masses and I mean masses of guts, gore, severed heads and mouths in palms of demons hands. I was actually rather shocked (but amused) at some of the bad language and the grim deaths of some characters. Worth a read if you want to be clued up on how far kids can really take horror in this day and age.

    Some lovely links.
  • "It's got a prose style that would be swarming with flies if it were a piece of meat"

Maybe this reviewer should take up writing horror!
  • My son read it, he is nearly 12 and he was quite surprised by the amount of blood and guts.  But he loved it.  I'm just about to settle down and read it as I am quite curious as to how nasty it gets.  I like nasty.
