I've been spending a lot of time alone in the flat during the current lockdown, but I've tried to use my time creatively. I had the idea of narrating some of my old One Word Challenge stories under the title Two Minute Tales. I first discussed this with a friend at a post-funeral gathering last year, and he encouraged me to go ahead with it, so here is my first effort.
I did everything in the video, from the opening titles to the closing music (!) My narration leaves a lot to be desired (I'm no Patrick Tull), and there are some unwanted noises, but for a first attempt I think it's ok.
It was a fun project to work on, and I'm already considering my next tale. The typwriter animation at the start was silent, so I went through it, meticulously noting the time of each keystroke (there are 50), and then pasting audio of a typewriter strike at each specific time in a sound recording program, and pairing up the audio with the video. It was labourious but absorbing, and when I played the finished product for the first time, and saw how in-synch it all was, immensely rewarding.
Each week I comment on about 20 others in the group, and there's the occasional one I can't get into. Sometimes it's a WordPress account with too many locked gates, but at other times I can get in with Facebook. I've made my settings open to all, so I can't see what else to do 🤨
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this - it's not technically a blog. Anyway, this piece is based on my very first effort in the OWC, for which the subject word was 'set' (I remember posting it like it was yesterday - I believe it was 2009!). I produce these for the simple reason that I like to muck around with audio-visual equipment, and I have a stock of pre-written pieces that I can use as I experiment. Anyway, it is what it is
