Introduce Yourself

edited May 2014 in Writing
It is strange nowadays to join these forums to find that there is nowhere to Introduce Yourself...

I find that if you become a New Member of any online sites, you'll never get much attention if no one knows who you are no?

Therefore, here I am!

My pen name is CeDany - it is a play on my initials and the nickname I received from my Father. I've been around quite a while - big kid at heart but five decades on LOL! Married to a wonderful husband of 29 years this June and from this love-full union two great munchkins came. Daughter is a graduate of West of Scotland University, Paisley Campus with a BSc in 3D Computer Animation with Digital Arts - she has her own website and she is my illustrator for a few of the images I've inserted in my novels.

Son is currently attending James Watt College. He's hoping to graduate in the field of Landscaping and/or Construction. They make me proud! Until recently our household had dogs but after wonderful and loving long-lives they both passed away from ripe old age and now we our joined with two beautiful and lively kittens.

I've been writing since knee-high-to-a-grasshopper. I'm a romantic at heart and have an imagination who knows no bounds. I plan to self-publish, providing I get the small amount of money needed to purchase e-ISBNs. I have a total of 10 books and as far as I know, standard ISBNs are sold in sets of 10 for about £132 (currently).

So between my writings, usually at night and looking after the family, I play a virtual farming game online. I read, read, read and more plus watching films and television series based or derived from books. These days I'm into The Vampire Diaries on television and I'm reading anything and everything written by L.J. Smith.

Other favourite authors are Dame Agatha Christie, Fred Saberhagen, Charlaine Harris, Stephenie Meyer and JK Rowling. Bram Stoker's Dracula was the first book I read about Vampires and a favourite. About my love of Witches - no JKR is not the instigator of my love for Wicca - long-story here won't bother with details.

Creative Writing was part of the school curriculum and one thoroughly enjoyed and nearly 2 decades (until I retired due to health and a new baby) working with Specialised Documents for every subjects found in the Government. This consisted of grammar corrections, formatting, typesetting, printing and proof-reading an occupied girl yes indeed - all of this in two languages plus the occasional Spanish and German phew!

My own novels (unpublished yet - but new Samples coming soon!) consists of two main books: the first one in four parts and the second one in six parts - Seventh Heaven Universe Series about Vampires and Witches - Fantasy/Fiction/Romance - I hope I get to see about your work here and that you'll visit my website: mybooksjourney.weebly.com to see my work - let's be friends and talk about books hey?

  • Hello and welcome to TB!
  • Hello, CeDany, welcome to the madhouse that can be Talkback. :)
  • Hi CeDany, and welcome. We do talk about books - in amongst the existentialist wanderings and general chat, we discuss grammar and publishing and all manner of bookly things. We also excel at gibberish, but we think it's endearing.
  • I am fluent in Gibberish and get bye in English.welcome CeDeny.
  • 'Consider yourself one of the family' as Fagin says to Oliver in the musical.
  • Hi, CeDany!
  • Hello all and thank you! Or if you prefer Southern hi y'all LOL!

I don't mind gobbledigook but you have to GET BY with good English LOL! Or I will correct it ahaha!

I spot it a mile away - whispering in her shell like ear - I need your blood - fangs baring - oops sorry got carried away - multi-tasking LOL!

Thanks I'm glad to be part of the Family even though I'm usually on the edges - the distant cousin not invited to the party mostly!

CeDany easy to spell it!!! yes i-t LOL! and BB (you figure that one out...) ;-D
  • Welcome and hello.

I am proud to say I am fluent in American just as much as English ;)
  • Hello, CeDany.
  • Hi there - welcome
  • Hello CeDany. I think you'll find every newbie does what you've done - their own "Hi, I'm here" thread. It works for us. Welcome.
  • :-h welcome
  • Aw the quiet of the night - so peaceful! Thank you all for the Welcome it's lovely of you and much appreciated.

One finds some stories online in a very strange way. Let me explain...

I was perusing the internet earlier, in order to find examples of style where my novels could fit in. As I've researched Fantasy in my much loved Library aka Wikipedia.org - I was therefore extremely surprised when I came upon this site which had samples of writers work.

Hmm hmm (clearing throat here!) under Fantasy and marked as 18+ I found one that spoke of nurses having fun - well in the description you know...

I clicked on the link to be face-to-screen with a complete story of (excuse the frankness here) BDSM - yuck!

I'm taking a break from trying to figure out where the story lies tonight - I stick with it - Fantasy/Fiction/Romance - yes, it is Fantasy - it has loads of magical creatures in it. Of course, it is all fictional (my mind is full of that LOL!) and Romance, definitely I am a Romantic at heart.

Finally, any of you lovely people and contributors here can tell me where I could post information on some of my characters?

In the meantime, the character description of my little (I state this because in my mind while creating her, I picture her as petite and delicate even after being lost at sea for 40 years) Aimée - who has a fantastic story of her own which she relates to her Grand-Mother and is to be found in Novel Two - Book One of Love Through the Centuries... Thanks much appreciated.

  • Howdy.
  • Hello and welcome.

Married 29 years next month? A mere beginner! My wife and I celebrated our 29th anniversary last week!
  • Well belated Congratulations Onlinegenie! So, we all married the same year LOL! Eighty-five was a very good year. I married the love of my life - my soul mate as predicted, three times in all, by grand-pa and papa and explained in minute details by a wonderful Gypsy Lady!

    Thanks and BB!
  • I married the year before, so I've already wandered into another decade. :)
  • I was married in 1981. A loooooong time ago.
  • LOL! Our favourite phrase about our marriage - "it feels like only 2 years... then the kids come into the room to say Good Morning and reality sets in". One's 25 this year and the other one 23 and later on this year will hit 24 a couple of months before Christmas.

We've been scanning old photos this past week. Aw the memories of places we've travelled to - one in particular for our 2nd anniversary - it was magical - full breakfast every morning for a fiver - two helpings of everything we chose: eggs, sausages, bacon, blood pudding (for me the Vampire not hubby he prefers Haggis slices LOL!), toast, a full (13 cups) pot of coffee, the same amount of Orange Juice. Yumm... I can't wait for Sunday for me to make my killer omelet - Oh that reminds me - our munchkins are making breakfast-in-bed this Sunday yipee! Mom and Dad get a cooking break LOL!

Later all - CeDany - BB! "My day begins, as yours ends!"
  • Hi and welcome, CeDany.
Um... you may not have noticed that we don't sign off all our posts with tag lines, CeDany. Of course it's up to you, but it's really not necessary on this forum. :)
  • Well I've always done so Claudia - so kind of a habit and I'm a creature of many habits - good and bad - LOL! Sorry...

    Later - BB...

    Later - BB...
Like I said: it's up to you. However, I'm probably not alone in preferring not to 'Be Blessed' on a secular writing forum.
    Many thanks.

  • Thanks Claudia! I've been racking my brain trying to work out what BB means. But don't they usually say "Blessed be" rather than "Be blessed"?

I have no objection to a tagline like that - I don't have to share CeDany's belief to accept the message in the spirit in which it's intended.
  • A belated welcome, CeDany.

After reading your introduction, I feel I know so much about you already!
  • I thought it meant byebye! But other things went through my head...
  • I thought it was bye bye too - the French think we say that all the time, you know.

CeDany - I should drop the BB if I were you or you'll never live it down. It is a bit superfluous, dear :)
