Killing off Adelaide

edited March 2016 in Writing
I need a place name which can be a girl's (stupid) name and can be shortened to a more familiar name by adding a 'y'.

There are identical twins in my book who currently go by the names of Addy and Venny (short for Adelaide and Venice), but I also have an Andy in the book so I need to replace Addy with something else as it's too similar.

I thought maybe Monaco - Monny, but I'm sure there's probably something better.

Any suggestions?

  • Florence/Florrie
    Milan/Milly
    Madrid/maddie
  • ...and it doesn't even have to sound like a real name.
  • Nebraska - Nebby?
Tennessee - Tenny? (but maybe Tenny and Venny might be too similar, even for twins!)
  • Tallinn/Tally
    Munich/Mooney
    Melbourne/Melly

    Or you could change Andy...

  • That's the idea, folks!

No, I definitely can't change Andy! It has too much significance.
  • You could call the twins Tomsk and Jerusalem...
  • India/Indy
    Paris/Parry
    Georgia/Georgie
  • Lorraine - Lorry. (It's more of a region than a place.)
    Paris - Parry
    Annaheim - Annie
Betws y coed - Betsy (in honour of the day)
    Langollen - Lanky
    Verona - Ronnie/Vonnie
Florence - Florry (keeping to the Italian theme of Venice)
  • London - Lonnie
    Helsinki - Helly
    Lusaka - Lusy
  • Sydney- Cyd
  • Thank you, my loves - I think I'm going to go with Ottawa (Otty)... which seems to be suitably ridiculous for my purposes.
