Microsoft Word - Best option?

I was just wondering what software everyone uses for their writing? I use Microsoft Word (2010 I think) and I was wondering if there are better options out there?

I have Word for mac 2011. It is a very powerful tool, imo, if you know how to use it, more powerful than any other. As soon as we have enough money we will upgrade, but sadly from now on it will be something you hire, rather than buy.

I downloaded a free trial of Scrivener last night. I went through the tutorial and had a play around with it. It looks very useful, loads of features, but there was loads I couldn't work out on it.
