Gosh, what a thrill when I got back from a week's holiday. Third prize in the 'Let's Talk' magazine annual short story comp. Fifty pounds of vouchers for local dept store. Went down for the prize giving last week and had some useful feedback from one of the editorial team that picked the winning entry. Apparently they were looking for 'originality of plot' and/or a 'twist to the ending'. Mine apparently scored because it had an unusual title ('Parsnips, repentance and the end of the world').
