  • I read two poems at the Basin Music Festival today, my first time reading at a festival!
  • Well done Kangaroo!
  • How did it go....?
  • That sounds great, well done! How was it?
  • Well done, is this the first of many?
  • Well done Kanga - tell us all about it
  • Congratulations! What were the poems about?
  • Ohhhh, thanks guys! The festival was held in a little town known as 'The Basin' at the base of the Dandenongs. I live about twenty minutes drive away. They had set up some stalls in the centre of the town, plus a stage where  various music groups were playing. Myself and two friends read our poems there, in a cafe called 'Acorn' It was a small friendly crowd, which made it easier. My first poem was about finding closure, the second was about my first trip to Venice. Here's the first one, Wanted: Closure
              whereabouts unknown
              selective hearing
              a spiteful mouth
              love given
              in small change
              not enough
              to live on
              known to stray
              the unwanted:
              one child
              two broken hearts

Don't know where that one came from!

    The second one,

    Rapture is Venice
    Walking age old
    lamp lit streets
    and over ancient
    bridges drifting
    along canals by
    gondala in winter

Every time I think or read that one, I'm there.
  • Ooops, almost forgot, I enjoyed it! I hope to got to another festival next month in a place called Emerald (gorgeous town) and read there as well.
  • Well done Kanga - glad you enjoyed it so much.  I like the Venice one best.
