edited October 2009 in - Reading
Hilary Mantel has won as predicted.
She's doing her speech as I write, and it is worth listening to on IPlayer if they have it.

  • Another promotional opportunity for Dorothy! (Had a laugh at the comment how she put off writing the book for 20 years!)

Reading Sarah Waters at the mo'; next on the list is Wolf Hall.
  • Yes I thought that too.
  • This does seem to be the year of the Tudors, doesn't it?

Although HM has mentioned in interviews how long it took to get the project completed, the cynics won't fail to notice how convenient it was to be published this year.
  • Very pleased with this result - I love all Hilary Mantel's books.
  • somebody gave me her book 'giving up the ghost ' a while ago, I must get on and read it.
  • Going to get this for the husband for Xmas. Then read it myself!
  • Just had a browse in Waterstones - looks excellent (much cheaper from Amazon though.)
  • Article about Hilary Mantel.

  • How much can one person take?
  • Just finished reading her memoir 'giving up the ghost' and it made me cry.
