  Sidney Sheldon may not have been a popular novelist in everyones eyes, but he was very good at portraying the mental and emotional aspects of women, as well as how they speak.
  When I was much younger I read The Other Side of Midnight, after seeing the film.
  I never had any doubts about the female characters, even though they had been written by a man.

  I've read loads of Sydney Sheldon novels and loved them - although I would say the earlier ones are better
