Very true, and informative, ana. I especially relate to your: "With children’s books readers feel safe from ‘excessive gore, violence, bad language and sexuality’." It does seem a shame, but I often feel compelled to use each of those ingredients (in adult novels) because it seems to be what readers expect. I suspect I am guilty of 'follow the leader' because never have I researched the question myself. I could be surprised. Perhaps I might raise this conundrum as a separate thread.
Read and commented Pet and Carol. C2 - wouldn't peasants in the 1700s have worn clogs in some regions, or leather or cloth drawstring bags on their feet? That's when they weren't barefoot, of course.
Trying to get our blog back going after the hell that was 2016. So we have revamped the look of it (hopefully it works) and have a list of post ideas to work through.
Two flash fiction stories this week - one on my blog and one on Visual Verse, which is trickier to find. Scroll down the list of authors to my name, and one of another TBer!
I have been having a look at some of your blogs and really enjoyed reading so many different styles. I have a blog too, its not about story writing but it is enjoyable to write and keeps me writing.

I definitely posted this earlier so where did it go?
The brocade silk shoes, 1730-50, stunning.
If you ever come across foot ware worn by, for want of a better word, peasants, close to the date above, I'd be interested to see them.
