Thanks, Wilts. The temptation was to just post some photos with captions, as I've been doing a lot in recent months. But it defeats the object of my blog which is to ultimately attract attention towards my writing, so I thought it was high time I got back in the zone (as I did with my Insect mini-series).
Carol - why can't I change my comment ID to my own blog address? I can only comment on your blog using my Google account.
Lizy, I have problems myself when replying to comments on my posts, I have to use the general one, it just doesn't recognise it's me replying.
I haven't been able to comment on anyone's blog for ages, Carol. Now and again I sneak in somehow, but I haven't quite worked out how that happens or what I do differently. This morning I've tried to comment on two of Claudia's posts without success
:-O liz, I don't know what I did, but I managed to post a reply on your blog. I've just looked at it and seems I've used my daughter's account and just changed the name to seaviewwarrenpoint - that's not such a good idea!!!
Thanks, Seaview. I've sent feedback to blogger to ask why some wordpress users are unable to leave a comment. I have always enabled 'anyone' to leave a comment in my settings so it's a mystery to me. Hopefully blogger will be able to pinpoint the problem!
What would be the cost of making one of the acorn finials today, compared with the original cost? Nice blog.
Likely depend on materials. A lot if it's on a listed building as it would have to be specific stone, and probably need a stone mason to make it by hand.
Fab story, and great photo's of the cast. That volcano, wow, what a view.
We had the opportunity to climb up there, but when the guide warned us that it would be very strenuous with no turning back, I declined!
Now that is a shame, the view would have been delightful, no doubt.
One thing I must say, though, some people underestimate the fitness levels of others, more so if that person/s are older than themselves. I hope you made the right decision.
I did make the right decision, C2 - especially when a fit looking girl young enough to be my daughter had to give up before she got to the 'point of no return' and a couple of others limped like geriatrics for days afterwards!

The ball of string theory of novel-writing.
I like that book cover it has a wonderful naivety to it.
A tale with a moral - listen to your children!
And Carol's acorns!
For all other writers - find out what % of your sentences are passive.
