Eeek was at the hairdressers and someone tagged me that I was runner up on the Japanese TV programme Haiku Master of the Week! They had no wifi and I didn't wanted to watch it on mobile data so I had to wait until I got home this evening to see which one it was ... it was this one inspired by a forest of redwood trees! https://seaviewwarrenpoint.wordpress.com/2017/11/07/of-giants-and-dwarves/
Reworked an old OWC story for this week's photo prompt. I wanted to write a story based on the theme of a 'smoke screen' and the OWC story fitted the bill (I think!):
Oh dear, do you think using the bones of an existing story was cheating, Lizy? I decided I didn't want to write a story about a fire or firefighters. I thought either a 'no smoke without fire' theme, or a 'smoke screen' theme in a city. And that's when I realised I'd already written something that would loosely fit the smoke screen theme.
Thought I ought to start changing the title of each Writing News Post to something more juicy than merely the month to which it alludes, so November's post is now sporting the new title of 'November's Submission and Publication Opportunities':
A couple of times I have clicked on my blog post above and as I scroll down, there is a flash of the words '10 comments' and I also see a flash of Patsy's face(!), but it is instantaneous, and then it all disappears and reverts to 0 comments!
I am not fishing for responses, but I just wondered if someone else sees the same as I do!
I also get a blank page, but when I looked earlier it had the full blog post and I didn't notice anything odd (not that Patsy's face is odd, but you know what I mean!)
I might have linked from Twitter before though, not from here - can't remember.
How do you know if people have replied on your own blogs, or to comments that you have left on others? I only find out if I remember to return to them.
I know if I get comments as I've set them up so that I'm notified (easy to do on Blogger and Wordpress, I don't know about other platforms).
Some blogs have the option for us to be notified of responses to our comments, or further comments from others. I don't generally click on that, but have done where I've asked a question.
May be something to do with the type of comments box (?)
Maybe - but I don't see where Blogger gives me a choice to change it. And I looked at Lizy's blog because TN said she could comment on Lizy's, but Lizy's comment box looks identical to mine. It's a bit frustrating.

I've also dusted off my blog recently and pumped up the tyres, still a way to go. Here's a short piece on the origins of bonfire night.

Here's my offering on the same prompt.

The page loads for me when I click from the link I left here.
Edited to add: my comment is showing for me - but it's done something strange with my 'blog signature'.
Here's my latest Wednesday word of the week. http://patsy-collins.blogspot.co.uk/2017/11/conflate.html#comment-form

Here's my own 100 word offering for the week.

Sorry Claudia - no idea why.
It's that time of year again, the Bad Sex in Fiction Award nominees...

I think some FF writers stay up all night to be first off the mark!
