TN I have thoroughly enjoyed those blog entries. Your description of getting through than canal bridge reminded me of a sailing trip on the Broads where we had to unstep the mast the get through the bridge at Potter Heigham. A sunny Sunday and pubs on either side with people enjoying the spectacle just as you describe. It was hairy, but we did it without mooring up first and received the applause of the crowd on the other side.
Thought most of the titles were simply descriptive, Carol. There have been some really odd ones in the past.
Just added the last of my blog entries based on randomly generated images from my collections. It is has been a fun exercise and actually helped me actually start writing each day instead of spending so much time reading around subjects. http://www.adbwilliams.co.uk/blog/
I've stopped doing the random photo blogs for now as busy working on some pieces with deadlines and that always helps me focus on writing. Having written several items based around the Great War and memorials I have posted a few thoughts on the topic, though.
Thank you, Dora. I found having to write on a topic randomly chosen helped me get going some days. As I never knew what might pop up it was thinking on your feet time.
Thank you, Lizy. Reading all the names on memorials is always sobering. I think it was discovering the name of a VAD nurse on a memorial and finding that the names above and below hers were those of two of her three brothers that really brought home the real meaning of these losses. I think it is interesting that in recent years many primary schools including our local one have researched the people behind the names on the local memorials. Some of the things I have seen written by children afterwards shows a very mature understanding.
When I looked at this week's Friday Fictioneers photo prompt my mind went blank and then I began to think about a conversation I had with one of my friends only yesterday. Half an hour later the story was written:
As well as some bigger competitionswith prizes such as cash, publishing deals, production of your play or travel, there are two currently running to win a writing ebook by leaving an appropriate comment on the relevent posts.
A great story, Lizy, and fitted the visual prompt exactly.
Putting out some Christmas cards earlier today I realised those I have received basically have one of five themes. I started thinking how these had changed over the years and finally I looked back to the postcard ones sent to my father during WW1 when he was a baby. Some even mixed the Christmas message with the concerns of war. It seemed an obvious choice for a blog post.

What a fascinating theme for a blog! And how lucky you are to have your father's cards.
