Will be taking a break over the Festive period, Lizy. No chance of working with people around.
I think the cards were saved because the family did not move around. The cards were played with by generations of children so their condition is not great. Fortunately, when the family home was finally cleared by a relative he passed them to us as they were addressed to my father. Otherwise they might simply have been ditched.
Given the weekly Friday Fictioneers photo prompt a swerve again. I am not interested in trying to write a story based on a Jewish themed photo at Christmas. I'm not religious, but I felt a bit offended tbh.
Rounded off the Festive season yesterday by writing a blog post on the trend for alternative Christmas trees seen over the past few weeks. If nothing else it helped kick-start the writing muscle after the break. http://www.adbwilliams.co.uk/blog/
Crack on, Lizy. I'm giving FF a break. The last few photos have been uninspiring or irritating. Also I'm going to be too busy next week with friend arriving who is going to house/dog sit for us. He hasn't been here/done this before so I want to break him in gently over a few days before we leave for Thailand. And then, of course, I won't be in the mood for blogging while I'm diving! Might return to FF in February when, hopefully, I'll be a bit refreshed.
I've been planning prompts for a small group I run helping people record their personal memories for family members. The theme they chose for this next meeting is advertising and how it has changed. Items that can no longer be advertised at all and claims that cannot be made. I decided to write a blog about some of the things that came to mind. Maybe you can think of more. http://www.adbwilliams.co.uk/blog/
Blue Monday has been referred to everywhere today and yet here it has been a frosty but bright day with the blue being provided by clear blue skies. After a bracing walk, well-wrapped against the elements, I decided to share a few images and some from the archives to show how cheery the colour can be.
Thank you, Lizy, and yes, your comment did register. They only show up after I have approved them.
That leads me into a comment on your word of the week, PM, as you do indeed have a way with words. Some words have so many different meanings yet others are so much more business-like and have one specific purpose.
I don't generally add an entry to the blog within a couple of days but this morning I saw a wren in the garden. I take part in the Big Garden Birdwatch each year and it will be on again this coming weekend. Rarely see the wren although I can hear it often. What chance seeing one during the count? Then this afternoon there was another surprise and I got a picture. http://www.adbwilliams.co.uk/blog/
I do the Big Garden Birdwatch. Daily lots of birds visit the feeding station in my garden. Big Birdwatch weekend they mysteriously disappear only to return when it’s over! I will be watching as usual this weekend.
A couple of my haiku featured on a podcast recently and the editor included a link to my blog. When I checked I realised I hadn't posted anything since June! so I had to scramble something up before I went to work. I decided to post a photo of my latest painting with a bit of info on the subject …known as The Big Stone! https://seaviewwarrenpoint.wordpress.com/2020/01/20/the-big-stone/
Just finished a draft of an article so have updated the blog with the results of the bird count at the weekend and other signs of life in the garden www.adbwilliams.co.uk/blog/
Thanks, Lizy. Hope you enjoy my latest post on Village Signs which have been the subject of my recent writing. My Best of British article was on this subject and I submitted another yesterday on the same theme. It has been refreshing to write on more upbeat topics after several years where I have been writing around social history of the Great War.
Thanks, Lizy. Are you familiar with Village Signs? I heard back from the editor of the second magazine yesterday to say he is hoping to slot the article in soon. Still waiting to hear from a few other options although one has already let me know they have no available slots.
Thought I'd left a comment! Our village, Hurstpierpoint, has a knight in armour sign in honour of a Norman chap called Pierpoint for whom the village is named.
There are some fascinating stories behind some signs, Lizy. It is one of the topics I have been asked to talk about as well as writing about signs and they always generate a lot of discussion.

Lizy, I couldn't see anything in that prompt yet you raised so many what ifs in my mind with your take on it.
