Interesting piece. I've just begun his new novel 'The City and the City' and it's not bad. Not bad at all.

    This is why I've stopped reading 'genre' fiction, especially crime. I'm so bored with reading the same book (different author, different title) everytime I pick up a book.
  • You might like his new novel, Stirling. It's crime fiction but with a weird twist. Two cities inhabiting the same geographical space but still remaining separate. An interesting idea.
  • I'll have a look in Waterstone's tomorrow.

    As I've been writing my crime novel, something has been niggling me as 'impossible.' I think he has put his finger on it; it's the construction of the riddle itself. Maybe why I've been drawn to a more character driven story than is 'normal' in crime fiction.
