Storm Ophelia. A national emergency in Ireland. The last time they had such a severe storm, Storm Debbie in 1961, 11 lives were lost. Quite serious then..
Our friends have no power, so I'm hoping we aren't similarly affected otherwise we might be returning to a freezer full of ruined food. We'll ring our neighbour tomorrow to find out how they're faring.
Yes thanks, Lizy. My OH spoke to our neighbour this morning who had already popped across to check our house. All is well and although they did apparently lose power yesterday, it was intermittent and not long enough to cause any problems.
Interestingly, the neighbour told my OH that he'd experienced worse storms than that and that the media were guilty of hyping it up. I wouldn't know because we weren't there, and maybe it was much worse in other parts of Ireland. Hard to say.
My neice in western ireland had a rough yime, but my daughter near loch erne was luckier. Colder here today - not only did the storm pass us by, the heatwave forgot to drop in as well:-[
It’s still quite warmish. The weather. Had my fan on during the night to keep cool... Soon be Christmas Season. Someone, on another thread, said that over in the US, from the beginning of November onwards, there is one radio station that plays Christmas music non stop...!
Crisp early this morning, now hot and sunny. The ferry we will be taking next weekend was cancelled this weekend - knock on effect from Ophelia. I hope this new storm is in a teacup because god knows what we'll do if the boat is cancelled again - it's the last crossing of the season!

Blue sky and no wind in Dorset.
Hope your food is okay, Claudia!

Cold when I went to the post office. Warm when I came back.
