•
ust launched my second e-anthology:
Have just bought it and Tweeted and FBed about it.
• The theme of my latest eBook is human migration, not always voluntary. The first story in the collection, in fact, is about a young African girl trafficked to the UK. Entitled 'Plenty More Where She Came From', it won first prize in a Writers' News short story competition a while back and is arguably the piece of writing of which I'm most proud.

Please do take a look when you have time and I'd really appreciate any feedback.

You'll find it at http://www.amazon.co.uk/Had-But-World-Enough-ebook/dp/B00BKPRB9C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1361899113&sr=8-2
• Forgot to mention my latest one on here.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Year-Day-ebook/dp/B00B0OWHQU/ref=la_B004O08LRQ_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1362000273&sr=1-7
• Making Oy Yew free again tomorrow, Sunday. My goal is to get 1000 downloads before I bring out Book 2 towards the end of the year. So about 750 to go. Forgot about Mother's day, I expect everyone will be out doing lunch/dinner etc, not browsing Amazon for freebies.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Oy-Yew-ebook/dp/B00B2JV1OM/ref=sr_1_3?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1358689871&sr=1-3
• I'm out all day tomorrow, but I've set up some Tweets - hope you reach your target.
• The kindle edition of Writers Abroad's, Foreign Encounters is now available. There are a few talkbackers in this anthology and the proceeds go to the charity: Books Abroad. It's only £1.97 and a good collection of fiction and non-fiction stories about, well, foreign encounters!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Foreign-Encounters-ebook/dp/B00BD2C21E/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1362865221&sr=1-1
•
Making Oy Yew free again tomorrow, Sunday.
It's not free at the time of checking - 7.45
• I haven't been on here for quite a while, but I thought I'd share this with you all. I've been brave and uploaded my first book to Kindle. It's called A Patchwork Flutter of Poetry and the beautiful cover artwork is by kitten anime.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_9?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=a+patchwork+flutter+of+poetry&sprefix=a+patchwo%2Caps%2C203

:)
• Just downloaded it, Ana.
• Thanks PM :)
It's not free at the time of checking - 7.45
That's naughty of them. It is now. They must have their own version of GMT.
• My Tweets have gone out during the day - fingers crossed for you!
• Ana, I've sent the link to my sister in Oz. Your book is very much to her taste. I'm hoping she picks up the message before the time runs out (you know, time zones and all that). Unless you could leave it free for Monday too...
• I think Oz are a day ahead of us aren't they? I'll schedule another giveaway before this promotion cycle ends and give you a few days notice.
• Ana, my sis is not able to download Oy Yew. Apparently it is not accessible through Amazon in Australia. I don't understand why. It could be that you decided not to tick that territory when you published (?). She says it's something to do with copyright restrictions. I don't understand the issue because I don't publish on Amazon so I am not familiar with the process and not qualified to comment on it.

I wondered though, if you could put Oy Yew up on smashwords? Two issues are important here:-

1) You would need to make sure you put it out on smashwords at the same price as the Kindle price (you probably know the reasons. Amazon naturally would get upset if you undercut their price elsewhere).

2) smashwords feeds into other formats and bookstores not yet covered by Amazon, for example, the Apple iBookstore. Apple too, run a Breakout Books promotion.

My sis has an iPad and she could then purchase Oy Yew from iBookstore.

It's just a thought, but I feel Oy Yew is creating a buzz and it would be nice to help it on its way. I notice on goodreads, another one of my friends has marked it "to read".
• I've put together 14 articles that I've had published in the UK writing press (incl. WM & WN).
Covers topics such as self-discipline, flash fiction, generating ideas and NaNoWriMo.
Current price is 77p (much less than one issue of a magazine!).

Well done Essy I've been doing the same and somehow managed to get a collection of short stories uploaded last night :) It's an experiment in whether it was a simple as it seems. The jury's out on that one.

Good luck with your poetry collection, love the cover .

Like Essy I've not been here for a while, life and all that :( but I'm feeling more positive and so here is my first, and hopefully not the last, attempt at reaching out to the world of readers.

• Well, you've reached me - I've just bought your eBook and also sallyj's.
•
I'd really appreciate any feedback
The first one is such a moving story-can't wait to read the rest-downloaded it today :)
•
Like Essy I've not been here for a while, life and all that but I'm feeling more positive and so here is my first, and hopefully not the last, attempt at reaching out to the world of readers.
Just bought your book red-lucy - so you've reached another one!
• I'll try and read both this week and post reviews.
• A new dimension has opened up for my writing. A reviewer on amazon.de has written of my e-book 'Had We But World Enough':

In den Erz
• Brill! Clever you! Congratulations!
•
They are very suitable for teaching English as a foreign language
Brilliant feedback well done :)
•
Fremdssprachenunterricht
That's a word and a half - I'm impressed by your command of German.

That's the exciting thing about internet sales, the random reach; you never know what it will throw up (vision of cat retching, couldn't think of a better phrase).
• Do any of us know why my sister cannot access kindle books from Australia? We have spent the last four hours on this and she's weed off with it now and gone to bed. So, before you ask, this is what we have done so far.
1. I sent her a gift card (email) to spend on Kindle because she doesn't have a credit card account with them, being nervous about being on a mobile connection with her iPad 2. That didn't work at first but now we've got it sorted.
2. Following a phone call from Amazon Help, she logged on to her account at Amazon.co.uk, so she could a) use my gift voucher and b) download Oy Yew and Space Orville. Those are the two she wants to read now.

And we can't get the b****r to work and tbh I'm not a lot of use because I don't use iPad apps on my PC. I do have iTunes Store on the desktop as an app, but I don't know if I could simulate her operating environment and interface on the iPad2, so I can't really help her.

Drat and double drat.

• "Do any of us know why my sister cannot access kindle books from Australia?"

Friends of mine in New Zealand have to get their books through amazon.com. Maybe it's the same for Aussies?
• All Aussie sales from Amazon are through Amazon US. I can buy tree books from Amazon UK, but I can't buy Kindle books.

Is your sister trying to buy from Australia? I would have thought if her Kindle was registered in Britain she'd still be able to buy through Amazon UK.
her Kindle
She has an iPad mini, I think, with the Kindle app for iPad installed, but she is a permanent resident so her tech is not registered in Brtain. She hasn't been over here for 20 years. Part of the problem is she doesn't want to use her credit card through a mobile connection, which I can understand, so she can only go for the free stuff. What upset us was that I sent her an Amazon gift card (by email) which I thought was (and seemed to be) international, or that she could redeem back, as you say, by buying from amazon.co.uk, but their system won't let her for some reason.
• I've finally plucked up enough courage to enter my ebook on here. I have classed it as a crime novel on Amazon but I don't think that fits it completely, genre is a bit hard for me to decide on. It's about a town in Germany beset my street crime and the fate of a family who move to the town and become involved in a vigilante-type operation. It's a kind of socially critical novel.
Anyway, here is the link. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00B1B7DVQ

A lot of TBers books look interesting. I can see myself neglecting to write and doing a lot of reading!
• Good luck PeggieB13
• montholon wrote: I'd really appreciate any feedback.

I really enjoyed your stories montholon, the first one deserved to win a prize. I liked the theme of human migration from the immigrant's point of view.
• My latest novel came out yesterday. "Song of the Jikhoshi" is the sequel to "Treespeaker" which was the first novel I put on Amazon and it's been a long time coming! (Two years exactly.)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00CEYOL78

The blurb: "When twelve-year-old Zanarr learns the secret of his birth, he begins to wonder where he really belongs. After an earthquake devastates the Tribal Gathering, others, too, question the wisdom of allowing him to stay. But when his attempt to save someone's life goes dreadfully wrong, there is no choice left to him. Now he must try to make a home outside the forest. Will he be forced to follow in the steps of a man reviled both in and out of the forest, in order to survive?"
• Congratulations, Nena! How exciting! All the best with it.
• Well done, Nena - good ratings already.
• Yes, it seems to be going well. Biting my fingernails until I get some feedback!

Ana, my daughter and I are reading Oy Yew at bedtimes at the moment. We're not far in, but enjoying it so far!
• Montholon, I'm going to download your book in a minute. I haven't been on here for a while, as I've been busy. The comments from Germany are very impressive (I also agree with your excellent translation).
• I hope you enjoy the stories, Verica, and look forward to hearing what you think of them.
• Oooh, oooh.

I usually only look at my sales in the US and UK, but I just clicked through the other countries, just in case, and in Germany one copy of each of ten different books of mine has just been bought.

Yeehah!

*gallops off waving neckerchief*
• Congrats, TN!
• Thanks, pbw.

Now to break Japan...
• I wrote on another page, montholon, that I'm enjoying reading the stories and will write a review.
•
. It's about a town in Germany beset my street crime and the fate of a family who move to the town and become involved in a vigilante-type operation
Interestingly your book came up on a list 'what people bought' when I was doing a search on Amazon. Definitely will be looking at this :) Well done
• I just wanted to share my latest 5* review with you from a fellow TBer for my book of short stories, Peace and Disquiet:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Peace-and-Disquiet-ebook/dp/B007JCLVFU/ref=la_B006PGFVL6_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1367054327&sr=1-5

'As soon as I began to read these twelve stories, I was left open mouthed at the sinister realism and very brave and powerful writing. "Dear Madeline" and "From This Day Forward" in particular are two of the very best stories of this kind I have ever read, each one deeply exploring a haunting and disturbing subject which is only too real in today's society.

In every one of the stories however, Helen Laycock writes with a deep understanding of her characters and situations, in such a way that draws you into them as if you were actually there, hearing the words, feeling the emotions, the fear, the pain, the joys and sadnesses, the very "peace and disquiet" spoken of in the collection's title.

Helen Laycock has not only written an outstanding collection of short stories, but each one is a masterpiece that could only have been created by the master story teller that she undoubtedly is.'

*skips off happily*

(The cheque's in the post)
• I'm so pleased for you, TN. Congratulations.
• Brilliant news all.
'master story teller' TN...:)
• High praise indeed, Tiny Nell. Well done!
• Well done to everyone on here on your achievements.

I have 2 books of Amazon at the moment (although several more in the pipeline once I have actually finished them!)

A collection of rhyming poetry. Some funny, some moving includes a mixture with some for adults and some for children.

I do understand where some of you are coming from in your reluctance to promote your work. It is daunting and frightening and I know I should do more but I prefer to write than promote. It takes up so much time.
